Koppelot nousevat mäntyihin - Female capercaillie in Scots pine

Lumien tultua koppelot nousevat hakomaan mäntyihin. Usein koppeloita tapaa heti tutkimusaseman itäpuolisessa männikössä, Kuntasjoen pohjoispuolella. Joskus koppelo päästää kuvaajan puun alle. - Urosmetsoja tapaa varmemmin Kuntasjoen eteläpuolella.

When the snow gets thicker the female caperciallies (Tetrao urogallus) spend most of their days feeding in the tops of Scots pines. Often they can be seen in the old forest immediately east of the Varrio station, on the northern side of Kuntas river. Sometimes the bird lets the photographer to come just under the tree. - Male capercaillies can be found more easily on the southern side of Kuntas river.
